Superpatriot

Captain America + Superman = Superpatriot.  

Rocketed to Earth to escape his dying homeworld, the infant Ste-Ven was adopted by Martha and Jonathon Rogers and raised as their son Kent.  A sickly child, Kent nevertheless felt a desire to serve his adopted homeworld.  When World War II broke out, Kent agreed to sign up for an experimental medical procedure to create the ultimate soldier.  When bathed in the experimental Vita-Rays, Kent's alien heritage was activated and transformed him into the mightiest mortal on the planet.  As Superpatriot, Kent fought with the Allies against the Axis.  However, when trying to stop a nuclear missile headed towards DC, Superpatriot fell into the icy waters in the Artic and disapeared.  While declared dead, Superpatriot actually entered into a state of suspended animation, due in part to his alien heritage, where he slept for over 60 years.  Awakening in the present day, Kent Rogers renewed his quest to protect his adopted country and homeworld.

While I didn't necessarily agree with all the choices for the mixes during the initial Amalgam offerings, even I have to admit that the pairing of Cap and Superman was a natural choice.  Both are the paragons of virtue and honor in their respective universes, and are often seen as the "lead" hero.  Even I couldn't think of a better blend for the two.  The trouble here, though, was that the initial mix- Super Soldier- was already a strong enough concept.  I wasn't too while on his costume, though, as I felt that it was just Cap's costume with the top cut off his cowl and no gloves.  So I tried to offer a more balanced blending of their two styles with this costume, giving him something that the original lacked- the iconic cape.
