Juggernaut + Solomon Grundy = Tombstone

Solomon Cain was an ordinary thug, just looking for the next big score.  One night he thought he hit it big, managing to steal the priceless Crimson Gem of Cytorrax.  Unbeknownst to Solomon, the gem contained incredible mystical powers.  Fleeing through a swamp, Solomon was caught in the bog and sunk deep into the muddy earth, suffocating to death in the process.  However, his death activated the mystical powers of the Crimson Gem, and it infused his body with it's incredible might.  Solomon was then reborn as a nearly mindless and practically unstoppable undead monstrosity.  Trapped between the world of the living and the dead, the being that became known as Tombstone lashes out at anyone and anything in his way, seeking a way to end it's cursed existence and find the peace of the grave that was stolen from it.

With the third round of blending the bad guys, the mergers became a little more difficult to do, as there weren't as many easy crosses.  However, I knew I wanted to do a "bruiser" villain.  A big, strong bad guy that could wreck the heroes.  But, as I stated elsewhere, DC doesn't have a lot of those types of villains.  I did eventually settle on Solomon Grundy, but he didn't have an obvious counterpart over at Marvel.  However, if things were easy, it wouldn't be as rewarding.  After thinking about the options, I realized that the Juggernaut would be a good choice, and I found the blending of the origins to be actually quite easy.  And I did like the idea of an massively powerful undead and mindless monstronsity.

For the look, I just essentially gave the Juggernaut Solomon Grundy's colors and skin tone.  I also decided to give Tombstone chains on his upper arms, wrists and belt rather than the metal "bands" that Juggy had on his look, as I feel that it added to his undead zombie look.  I also gave him a rictus style mouth and eerie, glowing eyes, to add to that mindless look.

Really, the biggest problem I had with this was trying to find a way to fit it all on the page.  I wanted him BIG, but my scanner can only handle so much.

Too bad Tombstone’s already taken…
