Captain Cosmic

Like "Captain Crusader," I had the name "Captain Cosmic" sitting around in my head for a while.  However, he was a little more fully formed than the good Captain.  I just needed to sit down and figure out his full design. 

I had this image of a guy in a brown jacket with a silver helmet sitting in my head, likely inspired by the visual of the Rocketeer.  When sitting down to design the look, I decided on making his outfit usually seen on WWI and WWII aviators.  The scarf was a last minute addition, but I felt it works out since it gave him something to wear under his jacket, as well as giving a nice bit of visual flare.  I tried to make his helmet design as simplistic as possible, trying to evoke the Golden Age sci-fi or the old adventure serials of the day with his "Rabbit eared" look.

For the Captain's origin, I saw him simply as an aviator who, while out flying one day, saw a meteor crash to earth.  Examining the meteor, he discovered that it was a special, unearthly metal he never saw before.  Taking the metal back to his hanger, he forged the metal into a helmet that he discovered granted him incredible abilities when he put it on.  He found he had the powers of telekinesis and telepathy, allowing him to fly under his own power, move objects with his mind, or read the thoughts of others.  After foiling a group of gangsters who were trying to rob his airfield, the aviator decided to continue on as a superhero under the name Captain Cosmic.
