With the recent developments over at DC and Marvel, I thought that an image like this would be rather appropriate.

Imagine my surprise when I also realized that I was apparently the first person doing this!  I mean, how is that possible that I am the first person to do a drawing of Annie Parker and Jon Kent?

So, yeah, for those of you unfamiliar, Annie is Peter and MJ's child from the Renew Your Vows mini-series, soon to be co-starring with her parents in the upcoming Renew Your Vows ongoing in November.  And Jon Kent is Superman's son, and the new Superboy.

Yeah.  Superman is a Dad.  And this isn't an "alt-reality" like Renew Your Vows.  It's the "official" Superman, whose a Dad with a kid.

And, you know what?  The world didn't come to an end.  The industry didn't collapse in itself in a massive black hole.  In fact, the opposite happened, and sales are better than they have been in two decades.

Will wonders ever cease?

Yea, It is good to see the happily married Superman in the comics. I'm really liking the rebirth issues. I haven't followed renew your vows though I have heard it was a good read.

This is so great! I love these two new characters, and if these two would ever meet, I think they would have great chemistry. You should probably draw another picture of these two together, but also include Damian Wayne as well, since the three of them would make a pretty good 'young trinity'.

Add Damian, Batman's son and we have the Next Generation Comic Book Trinity

Or how about a quaternity by throwing in Laura/X-23 from Logan

Laura would fit better with Nightwing, Supergirl and 'Mayday' Parker's Spider-Girl.

I don't get why? One reason being that Logan's take on Laura is a kid like the trinity you suggested and another being that unlike either Damian or Laura, the three characters you mentioned never had the habit of killing bad guys

I love the fact that the kid heroes can shine in their own right without taking away the spotlight from their parents.

You seriously need to draw Jon Samuel Kent more. Not only does he look superb (no pun intended) in your style, but we seriously need more fan art of him. He's a great character and I'm loving the development he's getting so far in the comics :)

Annie sounds interesting :-) while I prefer Peter with Gwen (please don't get angry, guys), I don't mind you or anyone else liking Peter with MJ. Whatever suits your tastes is fine by me ^^

Wonderful stuff as always man.

Its funny, I see most people talking about how this is a great idea, to have a series where Peter and MJ stayed together and had a child, like its a new thing. A lot of people not realizing the fact that there was already a great series called Spider-Girl that explored that. Hell, Marvel, and even some people who even knew she existed, seems to treat the series like it was never a thing, which infuriates me.

It always a joy reading the comic, even more so when Peter became more accepting about Mayday's (Spider-Girl, Daughter of Peter) life as a hero and fought alongside her from time to time. It was a comic about family, something that Dan Slott shattered when he decided to kill off Mayday's father for Shock Value. But now that the whole Father, Daughter, dynamic belongs to Slott's Annie, and Mayday gets to be put on the back burner.

I still feel like there was more stories to tell with Mayday and her father, hell her series as a whole, but fans of her's probably won't get to see it.

I think the big difference was that Spider-Girl was about taking over for her father after he retired for years, whereas this is about a still active Peter raising his family.

It adds a big of a different dynamic, because in the former Peter is a supporting character to his daughter, whereas with the latter he is still the main protagonist and we are following along in his continuing adventures.

I love the fact that we can have a world where Lois and Clark and Peter and MJ can be parents because, you know, IT'S THE LOGICAL PROGRESSION OF THOSE CHARACTERS. Part of me wants the RYV versions of Peter, MJ and Annie to transfer over like Clark, Lois and Jon did but honestly, I think it's better in the long run that they're self contained.

I think there's issues both ways. If they stay where they are the chances of getting cancelled forever are more likely, but they also don't have to put up with any of the nonsense in the core universe right now (where marriages and long term beloved relationships are considered a crime against nature). But it would also mean a fair chance that Marvel would finally stop trying to fix what wasn't broken if Peter, MJ and Annie are in the core universe.

I just think it would work well if they replaced them instead by pulling a Superman esque twist that they're the real ones all along as in before One More Day. I know that's been before but that is something I'd like to see to restore the Spider-Marriage once Dan Slott is out.

That could be interesting, maybe some warping of history so that Annie turns out to have been the child they would have lost in the Clone Saga and the one Mephisto teased about and Peter, MJ and Annie are now a family unit, either helping out with the Parker Industries stuff or more likely going back to basics. That said, it would likely be very convoluted with questions on what did and didn't happen post Clone Saga, including how things like Civil War went when Peter's identity was known and the like. And whether to consider May/Spider Girl as well!

(Actually I seriously want a MC2/RYV crossover adventure.)

It may be convoluted but it could work. Should this happen, then I'd like to see pre-OMD/RYV Peter to sell Parker Industries.

Very interesting, that you made honor to a cover of a classic crossover, and didn't know that SuperMan has a son, well, that's because i don't like SuperMan and i don't read to much DC in first place, but i like some characters of Krypton, or other crossovers like the one with the FF and SuperMan with Galactus, that one was great, anyway even i don't read yet that crossover, i love the concept of the drawing and that someone came up with the idea and just made it, good initiative. I like Annie colors by the way.

They already used that name with Mayday in Spider-Verse(and now is a former member of the Web Warriors comic) and in the tie-in of Secret Wars, 'Civil War' by Charles Soule, the dauther of MJ and Peter is called "Maybelle", i didn't read the first Renew your vows yet, but i think they didn't want to repeat those names even with characters of alternate universes. But for a moment i think she would be "Mayday" too.

You know, if these two were in the same universe I'd bet there'd be an alternate time line where Annie and Connor are a couple.

Awesome. :D

Now if only Jon's mom was Wonder Woman I would be happier.

Then again most people seem to prefer him with That Reporter then Diana since people think that's to cliche so who gives a shit anymore.

"That Reporter" tends to be preferred because she was Superman's most iconic love interest for decades, pretty much right from the start.

Wonder Woman is just empty fanservice.  I don't see any real reason why her character and Superman would have anything in common, other than they are both attractive and very powerful.

I understand the appeal of seeing two attractive people be together, but beyond that, there is next to nothing about Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship that is appealing in any way.

I think Clark and Diana feels a little forced normally because it's basically people thinking 'oh well they're similar and believe in the same things and are both super powerful' when in reality they're more different than you think, most notably in the fact that Diana would be more fine killing someone if she had to, unlike Clark who never could unless he was super pressed to.

But it's ok if you like it. Personally I still think Carol Danvers and Peter Parker would make a decent couple if Marvel had been willing to go with it, and I'm a huge MJ fanboy.

(And I think Batman and Wonder Woman makes way more sense.)

Not to mention his most annoying due to the fact she needs saving more then the damn planet. I understand why some find her more appealing but to me she's nothing more then an annoyance and not to mention I find she only fell for Superman because he's Superman.

I mean come on he's everything a human woman like her would want, she only noticed Clark Kent after he told her who he was.

Oh well to each their own.

The thing of it is, we really aren't asking the right questions.

This isn't looking at the relationship with "What would the characters find attractive?"  This is people looking it with "What do I find attractive?"

And, yes, there are those that find Wonder Woman more attractive than Lois Lane.  And find her a more appealing romantic interest.

Which is fine.

But that doesn't mean that the character of Clark Kent/ Superman wouldn't find them attractive.  Clark doesn't seem to mind constantly rescuing Lois.  It is that spirit that the character admires about her.  He seems to like it, in a lot of ways.

Yes, there is something appealing about a woman who is "The world's most beautiful woman" and if we were in Superman's shoes, some of us might prefer Diana to Lois.  But we aren't Superman, and the issue shouldn't be who we, the individuals find attractive, but who Superman finds attractive.  And his history and character says that Lois seems to be someone he is far more interested in than Diana.

Eh I guess that's one way to look at it but pardon me if some villain ends up using him rescuing her one day as a way to kill him. Granted I find both women attractive but I prefer warriors as apposed to reporters.

But again to each their own. If you like him with Lois so be it, nothing I can do to change that. Forget I said anything.

However, there are two caveats for that.

The first is that sort of rationale is not just limited to just girlfriends.  I mean, do you think that characters like Jimmy Olsen, Perry White or Lana Lang would be exempt just because they are merely acquaintances and not romantically involved with him?  And couldn't any average citizen be used to try and kill Superman some day?  Heck, Superman has already died, and it wasn't due to Lois being used as a human shield.  It was because a big bad villain who was far stronger than Supes came along and he had to sacrifice his life to stop him.

The second is- that's not going to happen unless the writers have that happen.

A lot of the rationale I see for why some character should not get with another character depends upon the assumption that the characters are capable of independent thought.  They aren't.  They're fictional.  They can't do anything that the creators don't tell them to do.  They can't feel anything the creators don't tell them to feel.

So Superman is never at risk unless the writers put him at risk.  They get to decide how he lives or dies.  It's not up to the bad guys.  Yes, a bad guy could use Lois to kill him some day.  Or they could have Superman die fighting an unstoppable monster.  Which they did.  Or they could have him explode due to his malfunctioning powers.  Which they did.

There's not going to be a "one day," unless the creators tell that "one day."  It's completely under their purview.  So being concerned about that is about as fruitful as being concerned that Godzilla will destroy Tokyo one day.

OK, may I explain why, for once and for all, it's useless to wish that two heroes, from two distinct teams/titles (despite it being the same editor and technically the same verse) date? They're doomed because of two words: agenda and rights money. It's simple as that. MONEH

Superhero can date Superheroine in Justice squad title  (and adaptations of it). But they're "alone" in their individual title, so that's tempting to make each dating/flirting with a person who is right here because he/she belongs to the individual universe and support cast.

Super couples that last, are those "made for each other" in the very same title and squad, such as Mr Fantastic/Invisible Woman (in the Fantastic 4) or Mr Incredible/Elasti-girl in The Incredible (inspired of the former).

Otherwise? They will grow too apart. It's even worse with adaptations; if you adapt Superhero's story in a movie, it will be cheaper to have a love interest that belongs to his support cast, than paying the extra rights for Superheroin to play a part in it.

Because yes, some characters are cheaper to acquire than others. It explain why so many original villains, or original villain that look like a real one with another name,  appear in TV series adaptations (no rights) . Or why some series such as  Legends of Tomorrow, The Brave and the bold, or Beware the Batman, run on more obscure characters (they were cheaper, you get it).

See? Those constraints already been fatal to Black Panther and Storm (she was a X-woman, he was not. Proof is, she dated a fellow X-man, Wolverine, right after, not a coincidence) , Nightwing and Starfire as soon they were not any more both in Teen Titans, to Wonder Woman/Batman, and it would had been fatal to Mrs Marvel/Spider-man as well.

May I add the last thing that Wonder Woman, a feminist icon (yeah, she is this, more than an eye candy) needs is to date a more famous than her fellow leaguer? As the most popular female hero, it's better she have her own "guy in distress" to save because she deserves to be famous for herself. Bunny Emoji-89 (Cheer) [V5]

Come to terms with the fact Lois is here to stay; she survived the Lana Lang 's infestation in the 60's and the 70's, you really thought she would not survive that one? Roll-Eyes Smiley

And no, changing the verse of MJ will never change her real self either...Wait and see, true believers!
