The Uncanny X-Titans

The X-Men + Teen Titans = The Uncanny X-Titans

As mutants, these young heroes found themselves ostracized from the world.  Finding some comfort in the mentorship of the older generation of heroes, these teens still found themselves wanting more.  It was only until the mysterious Professor Loren Xavier contacted the heroes individually and offered them a chance to study at his School for Gifted Mutants that the teens finally found a place to call their own.  Now, as the X-Titans, the teens strive to protect a world that both hates and fears them.  They are:

Eagle Eye (Cyclops + Robin): Scott Grayson was a circus acrobat, until his parents were tragically killed in the same accident that activated his mutant ability to fire powerful blasts of energy from his eyes.  Taken in by the Dark Knight, Eagle Eye was given the training to harness the rage over his parents death as well as being given a ruby quartz visor to control his optic blasts.  He is a gifted and charismatic leader, making him a natural fit to lead the team.

Marvelous Girl (Marvel Girl + Wonder Girl): When Jean Troy was a young girl, she went on a trip with her parents to Norway.  Unfortunately for her family, they were accidentally transported to the realm of Asgard where her parents were killed by Frost Giants.  The trauma activated Jean's natural mutant telekinetic and telepathic abilities, and drew the attention of the Amazons residing in Asgard.  Jean was taken in by the Amazons and raised to be one of their warriors, becoming something of a little sister to Diana, the later Wondor Goddess of Thunder.  Returning to Earth as Marvelous Girl, Jean uses her abilities to augment her strength and natural abilities, and was given a mystic rope that helps her to control her telepathy, being able to read the minds of anyone she binds with her rope. 

Amphibian (Beast + Aqualad): Garth McCoy was a brilliant young scientist with an irrational fear of water.  That all changed one day when he was dunked in the ocean and found that he was a mutant with incredible strength, agility and an ability to breath underwater.  Garth was taken in by the Mighty Orca, and found acceptance with his mentor for both his abilities and his mind. 

Kid Frost (Iceman + Kid Flash):  Wally Drake was a fun loving young teen who found his mutant abilities activated when he was engulfed in a shower of chemicals when he was visiting Parker Allen's lab.  Wally found he gained the ability to project intense waves of ice and cold, and soon partnered with Parker Allen in his duel identity of the Scarlet Speedster as Kid Frost. 

Cupid (Angel + Speedy): Warren Harper was an orphaned son of a pair of millionaires who lived a life of solitude after his mutant ability manifested in a pair of wings that allowed him to fly.  Oliver Murdock was brought in to manage his estate, believing that a blind lawyer would not leak Warren's secret to the world.  But Oliver took pity on the young mutant, and revealed his duel identity of the Crimson Arrow to him.  Oliver trained Warren as his sidekick, helping him with his abilities and teaching him to be a master archer as well.

So after my last set of bad guy amalgams, I thought I'd get back to the good guys and actually get to some of the ideas I had initially but didn't have time for- namely the combination of the X-Men and Teen Titans. 

For me, these teams are a natural fit.  Both had respectable starts, with an iconic five man band, and had far greater success later after a brief hiatus and a radical new lineup (More on that later).  The five man band thing really helped decide who was going to mix with who.  While some may seem odd (Robin and Cyclops for example) I kind of like the blending and I think they work together and more natural far better than I would have expected.
